Victoria Mitchell is an Associate Director at Burning Man Project. She leads and partners on strategic projects to improve Burning Man's nonprofit business operations, planning and systems in order to expand and scale our global impact. She created the Black Rock City Cultural Direction Setting project, a strategic cultural framework to envision and chart a course for residential Black Rock City for the next 5 to 10 years. This involves deep community engagement and shaping of how our community values are realized. She oversees Burning Man's Placement Team of city planners who create the map of Black Rock City and facilitate 1,500 camps that are home to 55,000 people coming to Burning Man. She created and manages the Camp Development and Support Team who do community development work to connect camp leaders across our Global Network. Burning Man Project is a global non-profit and network of people united in the pursuit of a more creative and connected existence in the world. Throughout the year we work to build Black Rock City, a temporary city of 70,000 people and home of the largest annual Burning Man gathering. Burning Man Project facilitates and extends the distinctive culture that has issued from the Burning Man event into the larger world.

Previously Victoria was the Director of Operations for Zesty, a corporate catering company. She led operations and people operations from early stage to raising $17M Series A to serving 3 million+ meals. She architected and developed Zesty's vibrant, actionable company culture to not only their 90 full time staff, but also with their 300 contractor part-time caterers. She also independently consulted with companies on operations, culture, and team trainings. She's a certified facilitator and trainer, leading groups on topics such as conflict resolution, nonviolent communication, effective meetings, communication in high-stress environments, and anti-oppression.
