Dr. Eileen McNeely

Director, SHINE Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health

Eileen McNeely, Ph.D., conducts research and teaches in the Environmental Occupational Medicine and Epidemiology Program at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She is also the founder and director of SHINE, the initiative for the sustainability of health and human capital in the workplace. Dr. McNeely’s research focuses on work as a platform to improve well-being, putting people and health at the center of corporate sustainability and business culture. Using a rigorous and applied academic approach, McNeely aims to shine a light on worker well-being and engages companies to understand the impact of workplace culture and practices on health. Her research is driven by combining mental, physical and psychosocial well-being metrics with business metrics such as retention, absenteeism, productivity and performance to guide organizations to better understand the impact of the workplace on health.
